Why Choose CurrentWare’s InterGuard Alternatives?
Learn More About CurrentWare
Find an Employee Monitoring Software Solution for Your Needs
InterGuard and CurrentWare are both comprehensive solutions for employee monitoring, web filtering, data loss prevention, and productivity management, offering a similar set of core features.
The main difference between CurrentWare and InterGuard is that while CurrentWare monitors user activity, it does not track keystrokes, instant messages, or employee emails. CurrentWare monitors and restricts web browsing, application usage, and file transfers to data egress points such as portable storage devices and cloud services.
InterGuard has an edge in its cross-platform compatibility, supporting mobile devices and non-Windows operating systems, whereas CurrentWare is exclusively available for Windows. Add-ons for InterGuard’s software also allow you to access a remote device to retrieve a sensitive file, delete a stolen asset, or lock down the device.

As a 'novice' I was able to set up with help from support in about an hour. Previous software took forever and didn't work as advertised. This software worked right out of the box.

InterGuard Reviews
Sales & Support
InterGuard customers have expressed frustration with their sales and support practices, particular post-sale
We had issues with the installation, and had no response to our email the day after we purchased the product regarding need for help.
They were very responsive up until we paid them, but then the sales person stopped responding the following day, and the support phone always goes to voicemail.
I finally got a hold of someone via chat to help us with the installation, they would not pick up the phone, so the support took 5 times as long to answer all questions and attempt to fix the installation on a device.

It disconnect all the times from the computer. It slows down your browser. I tried to cancel the subscription and they said it was not possible because I log in once in April and that automatically renewed my subscription. The reason I log in was to cancel the product not to use it. They will offer no solution. Horrible customer service.

Company was very responsive until payment was made. Once payment was made, their sales person became unresponsive, their customer support phone and email never respond to emails or voicemails.
Their live chat support won’t pick up the phone to talk and it takes 5 times longer than needed to communicate with them via chat.

Bugs & Data Loss
InterGuard reviews note data integrity issues, a considerable drawback for those relying on it for cybersecurity
I used to use Awareness Technologies, part of InterGuard, and have since stopped. The software uninstalled itself repeatedly without letting anyone know, so it was not protecting the equipment.
I had a laptop stolen and within two days the software uninstalled itself leaving the laptop untraceable.
I asked if there was any insurance or warranty as part of the service, there was not and I was informed that they were not going to be able to help or compensate me, I was out for everything. I have requested a refund and was notified that I could not get one

I had Interguard dial in to install and they did not install a extention that is needed for when the user uses Chrome so the system was not picking up the data.
Also it will go days without pulling data and they have had to do a reset and then 2 days later it updates everything and I can see the data. I was hoping for this to be very fluid and it has not been.

After we installed, we were having issues with data showing accurately in the dashboard from each of our devices. We had one of their live chat technicians remote into our computer and confirm everything was installed correctly, yet we were still not getting all the data from the device.
We spent hours and hours trying to figure it out, but the software just didn’t work correctly. We then tried to contact them for a refund, and they have been unresponsive to that request and just sent a few emails stating to contact support to help with the installation.

Total Cost of Ownership
InterGuard’s lack of transparent pricing has frustrated many users that were expecting more value for their investment
The one thing I do not like is the purchasing of the screenshots, I did not realize it’d actually run out and you’d have to buy more until it hadn’t taken a screenshot for a few days.
I purchased more and it ran out quickly so I do not think I’ll even worry about getting screenshots now because that can get pricey in a hurry.
Source: Capterra Review, 2020
We “like” the software but the extra expense of the screenshots is keeping us from “loving” the software.
Now that we know the actual price of the software, including the screenshots, we will be reviewing other software, which includes screenshots, once our yearly subscription is up.
By the time you add in the expense of screenshots, you’d be better off to purchase more expensive software which includes continuous screenshots in the purchase price.

To get the most out of InterGuard, you will have to bundle at least 2 to 3 modules together. If you are looking for flexible pricing with consolidated modular features, this solution may not be the right choice for you.
When paying a premium, we expect all features to be readily available with clear modulation. Unfortunately, this is not the case with InterGuard.
For example, it is hard to understand why we would have to pay extra for file tracking, download tracking, and print monitoring as opposed to these features being included as part of the Data Loss Prevention module.
User Experience
While InterGuard is a highly capable monitoring solution, there are mixed reviews about the ease-of-use of the platform
Their support is chat/email only. this is sort of terrible when you are trying to solve a problem. it would be fine if software was free of charge so it was best effort support…
however – if I am paying for it I expect to be able to talk to someone, especially if it is a billing issue and they are overbilling me.

Sales teams hours are atrocious. I tried calling everyday for a week until I gave up and contacted the customer support through the chat.

Depth of Insights
InterGuard collects sensitive information; admins must be cautious to avoid leaking passwords and private messages
The monitoring was deeper than I wanted. It did keystrokes, email, web, programs, everything… And it reported via PDF.
So, my passwords for everything for the company were being recorded and the owner was getting reports and taking them out of the building for his review!
Once I found out he was getting keystroke data, I put a stop to that, at least with IT, finance, and HR users…
Source: Spiceworks Comment, 2017
The goal of this software was to provide a non-invasive, easy to use solution to monitor computer/internet usage on equipment. It works and provides all the information you need to know what is going on/or not going on during a production day.

Functions & Features
InterGuard’s ability to limit user functions and report on their activity has provided value to many of their customers
Prior to the implementation of InterGuard, we saw computer resources are abused making IT consistently battling with network performance and malware attack problems.
Morale was driven down simultaneously as hard working individuals were emotional affected by the bad branches spending valuable time on unproductive personal interest during business hours.
InterGuard improved the situation by providing materials that HR can base upon to challenge the bad branches.
Source: Capterra Review, 2018
The good thing about this program, Interguard is that it allows you to ensure that you are making the most out of business hours.
We really don’t need to monitor or micromanage every employee we have, however, we need to ensure that certain processes and so forth are being followed and that the basic guidelines are being followed such as avoiding certain websites and web pages which are not authorized and or work related.
