CurrentWare’s Software Usage Tracking Solutions Unveil Critical Adoption Issues
We needed to confirm that our users were active within their Citrix Workspaces.
Unfortunately, Citrix’s reports only tell you when the machine was turned on and off.
CurrentWare is going above and beyond in filling that gap—the employee activity reports have become an integral part of our day-to-day operations and how we do business.

Productivity-boosting software is a strategic investment that empowers businesses to optimize workflows, drive efficiency, and gain a competitive edge.
However, as new tools and processes are introduced some employees may be more reluctant than others to accept them.
In these cases businesses need insights into the employee experience to address any friction during the adoption of new tools.
For The Coding Network, one such tool was Citrix Workspace, a digital workspace solution that provides their 100% remote workforce with secure access to applications, virtual desktops, and data, regardless of their location or device.
While Citrix provides useful reports for monitoring the health and security of its solutions, it lacks the granular user activity insights that The Coding Network needs to get a complete picture of the day-to-day operations of their workforce.
There was a gap in the data we had and we wanted to get something in place before there was an incident. CurrentWare has really made our Citrix rollout a lot easier from a tracking and management perspective.
With CurrentWare’s user activity monitoring for Citrix, The Coding Network was able to measure the adoption of Citrix and other critical tools through the tracking of logins/logouts, idle vs active time, software utilization rates, web browsing, SaaS usage, and more.
After deploying CurrentWare, The Coding Network finally had the means to discover that the adoption rate of Citrix virtual desktops and critical applications within them was falling short of their expectations.
With a clear distinction of which employees were not following new protocols they were able to address non-compliant employees and get their software adoption rate up to 100%.
Going forward, ongoing user activity monitoring with CurrentWare will serve as a critical tool for identifying employees that are not following The Coding Network’s policies and procedures.
Why Monitor & Control
Software and SaaS Usage?
Software Spend Optimization
In 2023, nearly half of all software/SaaS went unused by employees, resulting in wastage of nearly $537M/year.
Insider Threat Detection
Detect anomalies that might indicate insider threats, such as using sensitive apps outside of working hours
Shed Light on Shadow IT
Gartner predicts 75% of staff will use shadow IT by 2027; this is a significant security, productivity & compliance risk
REMOTE EMPLOYEE MONITORING
Provide Flexibility Without Sacrificing Accountability & Security
CurrentWare is a gamechanger! We use it nearly every day to get insights into things like software adoption rates, employee productivity, and proof of work for our clients.

By 2025, an estimated 32.6 million Americans—22% of the workforce—will be working remotely.
Considering that 80% of employees surveyed by Owl Labs in 2019 said that they want to work from home at least some of the time and 4% surveyed by them in 2023 would go so far as to quit their job if they were no longer able to work remotely or hybrid, it’s clear that companies who refuse to support location flexibility will struggle to attract and retain talent.
Unfortunately, supporting a remote workforce comes with its own unique challenges…
Some employees may be tempted to take advantage of the lack of visibility that comes with remote work to spend their working hours watching Netflix, scrolling on social media, or even going so far as to secretly work a second job.
Or worse—the comfort of their homes may have them lower their guard when it comes to following cybersecurity and computer use policies.
Fortunately, the crux of these concerns can be readily discovered and addressed with the right metrics.
CurrentWare’s remote employee monitoring software provides 100% remote businesses like The Coding Network with the workforce activity insights they need to identify which of their remote employees are working diligently and adhering to critical policies, and who may need additional support.
We’re not interested in micromanaging, but we do need to make sure that our employees are acting reasonably and safely.
If we see any issues in a specific department we can give those managers the data they need to address concerns before they escalate.
Why Kristen Chose CurrentWare
Depth of Insights
What stands out to me is all of the things that CurrentWare can track, and its customization of what data it sends and when—like how frequently it can be sent and how granular we can get with that information.
The reports are simple to understand and the fact that they can be emailed to you on a schedule is amazing. It has made finding productivity killers VERY easy.
I appreciate how granular the data is. We regularly run general reports, then if we see a red flag we can easily dig in to get whatever information we’re looking for.
Vendor Support
CurrentWare’s team has been incredibly helpful when it comes to understanding how to interpret the data
CurrentWare’s support team has been fantastic every time I’ve had to reach out—I highly recommend them!
Every time I’ve needed help, CurrentWare has gone above and beyond to get it resolved and addressed in a timely manner.
We use the app usage and productivity reports so much that CurrentWare is working with us to build out new reports for their product that we’ll get a lot of value from. I really appreciate how they take our feedback seriously.
Security, Privacy, Compliance
With CurrentWare’s flexible deployment options and platform security measures, The Coding Network ensures that all of the user activity data they collect remains secure and completely within their control.
Because of the nature of what we do we have to adhere to HIPAA; having CurrentWare has gone a long way to be able to show that we have the capabilities to pull up user activity information for our clients if needed.
Ease of Use
It’s all very user friendly, incredibly easy to use, and a simple thing to integrate into our day to day operations and reporting.
It’s not just me looking at this, the data is shared with senior leadership in the operations team and some managers on an as-needed basis. Being able to present this information in easy-to-understand reports has been really important for us.
The Critical Role of Employee Monitoring Software
Organizations need to maximize the value of their investments by reducing unnecessary expenses, regulating access to sensitive content, and ensuring productivity-enhancing tools are adequately adopted.
CurrentWare’s employee monitoring tools will help you:
- See how flexwork affects productivity
- Deter time theft and excessive distractions
- Reduce software waste and discover shadow IT
- Protect sensitive data against insider threats
